Krzysztof Stanowski, Under Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Poland, is an award-winning educator promoting democracy and engagement in civil society. A longtime Solidarity activist, in 1989 Mr. Stanowski began work with the Education for Democracy Foundation, assuming its presidency from 2001-2007. He served on the Steering Committee of the World Movement for Democracy, organizing international programs for teachers, NGOs and local government leaders in Central-Eastern Europe and in Mongolia in support of democracy and development cooperation. He is the author of numerous publications concerning civic education and NGO management.
